Statistical research has found that middle school students who
participate in extracurricular academic activities score significantly
higher on achievement tests than students who do not participate.
PSIA (Private Schools Interscholastic Association) offers the most
comprehensive academic extracurricular program in the nation for
students in grades 1-8. It is a non-profit educational organization,
serving ALL privately-schooled grade 1-8 children. Competitive events
are available in a wide variety of subject matter, including language
arts, fine arts, math , science and geography.
Several Incarnate
Word Academy Students participated in the Private Schools
Interscholastic Association (PSIA) State Meet held atTexas
Christian
Universityin
Fort Worth in late April. They competed in different categories
including vocabulary, science and on-site drawing. Special recognition
goes to
sixth grader Karen Marquez for placing fifth in vocabulary.

Congratulations on a job well done to our students who
participated
this past Saturday, March 27, at the PSIA Competition. This event took
place in McAllen at St. Paul Lutheran School. Incarnate Word Academy
takes this opportunity to thank the students, parents, teachers and
staff
who made this competition a great success. We would like to thank
St. Paul Lutheran School for their great hospitality in hosting this
event. Incarnate Word Academy PSIA students look forward to the
challenge at the State Competition on April 24th at
Texas Christian University in Fort Worth.
