Tournament held on Saturday, April 10th. The K-3 Division placed fifth
in the

The IWA Elementary and Middle School Chess Teams participated in the
Palmer-Laakso
Elementary Chess Tournament. The Elementary ChessTeam participants were
Felipe Esquivel,
Victor Cuellar, Fernando Lopez, Risa Ortiz, Salma Cuellar and Cesar
Vega. The Elementary
Chess Team won fourth place in their section. The Middle School Chess
Team participants were
Jedavi J. Avila, Alfredo Garza, Daniel Ramirez and Julio Torres. Jedavi
Jewel Avila placed fifth in the
Middle School Individual Section. Congratulations!
The IWA Middle School Chess Team participated in the
Salinas Elementary Chess Tournament held in Hidalgo
on Saturday, October 3rd. They competed against middle school
and high school students from across the Rio Grande Valley.
The IWA Middle School Chess Team placed fifth in the tournament.

TheIWA
Chess Team participated in the Texas State Girls Championship held in
Laredo.
IWA had outstanding results and the K-1 team placed first in the State.
On Friday, October 30th,
Central Catholic Elementary from Corpus Christi, Texas passed on the
State Chess Championship
trophy to IWA. Mayor Pat Ahumada presented a proclamation from the City
of Brownsville
to Faith Guajardo and Roxanna Ortiz for placing first in the State.
