On January 27th, several elementary and middle
school students participated in IWA"s Spelling
Bee. Winners were as follows:1st place - Jose Pablo Salas, 2nd place - Enrique Ibarra, 3rd place - Melissa
Cano and Alternate - Juan Hernandez. Congratulations!

The Diocesan Spelling Bee was held at IWA on
February 3rd. The five Catholic schools in
Brownsville participated. Congratulations to IWA
seventh grader Jose Pablo Salas for placing third
and to seventh graders Enrique Ibarra and Melissa
Cano for their participation!

As part of Catholic Schools Week, Pilar Janis, a
graduate of IWA and VM, spoke to middle school
students about the importance of a Catholic school education. She currently serves as a counselor for
higher education with BISD.
IWA middle school students participated in a Catholic Schools Week Essay Contest. The grand prize winner
was Daniel Juarez. Honorable mention was given to Lindsey Williams, Christiane Escandon, Laura Cruz, Cecilia Lozano and Jose Roberto de la Garza.

Parents enjoyed a delicious breakfast buffet at the
February PTO breakfast. IWA Campus Director
Sr. Irma Gonzalez invited parents to upcoming events
such as the Open House and A Little Bit of Mexico.
